Week 5 Stats for Josh is a Big Loser
- Starting Weight: 176.0 lb
- Today’s Weight: 169.0 lb
- Weekly Loss: 2.5 lb
- Total Loss: 7.0 lb
- Total % Loss: 3.98%
Not too shabby. I was actually down to 167.0 lb a few days ago, but I think the weekend kind of hurt me (again). It’s amazing how hard it is to actually eat right when you’re so busy. No one makes it easy at restaurants, that’s for sure.

I have now completed my fourth full week of Power 90…except that I disappointed myself this weekend when I officially missed my first day of workout time. We were working on a big project at the house all weekend, and I had zero time left over to workout on Saturday or Sunday. I was pretty aggrevated at myself.
Tomorrow is Day 30, so I have my first real comparison measurements and pictures for Power 90. I’m excited to compare more numbers than just the pounds to see how I’ve progressed.

Week 4 Stats for Josh is a Big Loser
- Starting Weight: 176.0 lb
- Today’s Weight: 171.5 lb
- Weekly Loss: 0.0 lb
- Total Loss: 4.5 lb
- Total % Loss: 2.56%
This past weekend really messed me up. We visited our parents and were gone all weekend, and we ate out four times in two days. I basically had two cheat days instead of one. I had fast food for the first time since starting this, and I felt like total crap after I ate it – even though I got the “healthier” option on the menu. Fast food sucks.

I have now completed my third full week of Power 90. I switched to using free weights this week instead of the resistance bands, and I really felt a difference. I think they both have their benefits, and switching back and forth should really give me some good variety. I think I’ll do another week of free weights and then switch back to the bands (2 weeks each). I’m wondering if using the free weights had anything to do with the fact that I didn’t change my weight this week. I noticed a difference from last week, but I think I’ve gained some more muscle and lost fat. I need to check my body fat % again tonight to see if that has changed. I’m betting that it has (although I don’t really trust the number that’s on my scale/reader very much anyway – I’m not sure how accurate it is).

Week 3 Stats for Josh is a Big Loser
- Starting Weight: 176.0 lb
- Today’s Weight: 171.5 lb
- Weekly Loss: 1.5 lb
- Total Loss: 4.5 lb
- Total % Loss: 2.56%
Not too bad this week. I was pretty consistent with things again, and I think I’ve gained the momentum I need to keep going on this. I’m finding that I’m really not hungry all that often, and my big struggle is making myself eat my two snacks per day so that I can keep increasing my metabolism. It’s been hard finding time to eat my morning snack especially since I’m busy at work most of the time. I usually just plain forget. I need to be more diligent with that this week (starting this afternoon since I already couldn’t eat my snack this morning due to 3.5 hours of conference calls).

I have now completed my second full week of Power 90. I’m starting to really get the hang of the workouts. I know what’s coming, and I’ve gotten the form down pretty well on most of them. I’m going to try some free weights instead of resistance bands a couple days this week on the sculpt sessions, so we’ll see how that goes. I’ve already noticed a little difference in my arms and chest from these two weeks. And I’m able to do more pushups than I could before (although I still can’t perfectly do all three sets of 7 in a row – wide, narrow, and normal – without taking a break). I’m not close to switching to level III-IV yet, but I imagine I’ll probably be making the switch before the halfway point at this rate.

Here’s my updated stats:
- Week 1: 176.0 lb
- Week 2: 173.5 lb
- Week 3: 173.0 lb
Stats from Week 2
- Weekly Loss: 0.5 lb
- Total Loss: 3.0 lb
- Total % Loss: 1.70%
Not as much weight loss this week as I would have liked, but I also recorded my body fat and water percentages each of these weeks, and although I only lost 0.5 lb this week, I actually lost 2.0 lb of fat and gained 1.5 lb of muscle (thanks to Power 90). So that’s good news.
Easter weekend was a little rough with all the food around, but I did pretty well as far as my eating goes except for Saturday night and Sunday night when I had pizza. Those were my “cheat” meals for the weekend. I probably should have eaten a little less each time, but I couldn’t resist. I think next time it will be a little easier to tone it down a bit. I’ve noticed a significant increase in my self control when it comes to eating (not only in how much I eat, but also in what I eat), which I’ve never had before in my life. That’s pretty exciting to me.

I have also completed my first full week of Power 90. I successfully exercised for 6 straight days and rested yesterday. I can already tell a difference in how I feel. Also, I’ve been on medication for high blood pressure for several years, and about a month ago it was still running around 145/95. I checked it recently, and I’m down to about 121/69, which is huge! Part of it is likely attributable to a new medication that I’m on, but I’m sure this exercise has helped it as well.
Now it’s on to the new week.

I have officially completed my first week of Josh is a Big Loser. Here’s a summary so far of my progress:
- Week 1: 176.0 lb
- Week 2: 173.5 lb
Stats from Week 1
- Weekly Loss: 2.5 lb
- Total Loss: 2.5 lb
- Total % Loss: 1.49%
This past week started out really well, but was complicated once Friday hit. I was in a good friend’s wedding, so we had an AWESOME rehearsal dinner Friday night, great food at the reception on Saturday night, and then my family had an Easter get-together on Sunday. I did pretty good at all three of them, but I think I could have done a little better if they hadn’t all hit in one weekend. I used those three things as my composite “cheat day.” Other than that, I did pretty well with my nutritional changes. This week will be stellar though. Which leads me to my next item.
Today also marks my official start of Power 90.

For the next 3 months, I’m going to be hitting it hard and following an actual plan (for both exercise and nutrition). I don’t do well without a plan in any area of my life. I need to know what I’m up against and how to approach it. I really think Power 90 is going to give me just that.
I did the “Fat Burning Express” workout that was sent with Power 90 three times this week, and I’m more sore than I’ve ever been since starting exercising. If that’s any inidcation of how this program is going to be, then I’m in for a world of hurt. But I can’t wait.
I’m also very blessed to have a wife who is willing to shop and eat healthy with me. She planned out our meals this week based on the Power 90 nutrition guide, and we’re going to eat great without having to have grilled chicken and green beans every night. Thanks to her, I know I will be significantly more successful with this. I have to say, she’s pretty amazing.
So here goes week 2 of Josh is a Big Loser!

I received my Power 90 DVDs and information yesterday when I got home, so I took the time to read through everything that came with it like a true geek would (just ask my wife).
Since my week begins on Monday (resting on Saturday or Sunday), I decided to take this week to read more about the program, the nutrition guide, etc. and officially begin with it on next Monday, April 6. That will be Day 1. This week I’m going to continue exercising and try out the “Power 90 Fat Burner” DVD that came as an extra. That way I can ease into the full on program.
Here are a few things I’m focusing on this week:
- Drinking a LOT more water (shooting for 2 liters per day)
- Eating 5 times per day (every 2 to 3 hours)
- Stop eating about 3 hours before bedtime
- Keeping my calories between 1,200 and 1,500 per day (which I’m basically already doing)
- Balancing my carbs, protein, and fats
- Learning Michi’s Ladder so that I know what foods are “good”
I think if I can start to get comfortable with this stuff this week, next week will flow really well into things.
I have to admit. Even though I’ve only been really focusing on this stuff for about a week, I’ve already noticed a difference in myself. I’m starting to feel different. I can’t wait to see what happens at the end of my 90 days and beyond!
