Prayerful waiting on God isĀ indispensableĀ to effective service. Like the time-out in a football game, it enables us to catch our breath and fix new strategy. As we wait for directives, the Lord frees us from the tyranny of the urgent. He shows us the truth about Himself, ourselves, and our tasks. He impresses on our minds the assignments He wants us to undertake.
- Charles Hummel
Our practical, materialistic society so values action over meditation, study, and prayer that we often feel guilty when we stop to think, study, or pray.
- Jean Flemming from Between Walden & The Whirlwind
Can anyone else relate? I seem to identify with this a LOT right now.
