Zero Pounds
I can’t believe that I only have two weeks left after this one until I’m finished with round 1 of P90X! Seems like it’s been going forever, and yet it seems like I just started.
The one thing that really surprises me is my weight. Going through Power 90 (and counting a few weeks prior to starting), I lost about 25 pounds. Since I’ve started P90X, I have lost zero pounds (and have gained zero pounds). I can tell that my body fat percentage has definitely dropped, which means I’m also gaining muscle since I’m staying the same weight. It’s pretty cool to see how the nutrition plan really does work. That is exactly how it was designed.
P90X wasn’t designed to give you a calorie deficit so that you’ll lose weight. That is what Power 90 was for. P90X is about strength training and defining your body. And that’s precisely what it does if you follow the plan.
I haven’t been 100% perfect on the nutrition plan like some of the test group people were (especially these last couple of weeks), but I’ve stayed pretty close to it (and Power 90‘s) since I started both these programs, and it definitely works.
I think I may even be brave enough to post some before and after pictures in two and a half more weeks when I’m completely finished with round 1.
Oh, and as a side note, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think Yoga X has become my favorite workout. Tony recently posted some thoughts about the effects of “Vulcan Robot Yoga”, and I can fully understand where he’s coming from with those thoughts.
Congrats on getting to the end..
Funny you mention YogaX.. It took 3 rounds of P90X for me to start to appreciate YogaX.. and it really wasn’t until the /last/ two times we did it. It was the /one/ routine I hated. My faves back then… Plyo and Ab RipperX.
Ab RipperX is still a favorite of mine, but I would say some of the Insanity Cardio routines are my new ass-kicking faves…
Do you plan on a 2nd round after this?
@Critter: That’s funny. Plyo and Ab RipperX are actually my two least favorite workouts. :)
I think I’ll probably do another round at some point, but I don’t know if I’ll launch straight into it, and I don’t know if I’ll follow the plan (nutrition and/or workout) nearly as close as I did this time. I think I probably will take a little break for a month or so and just scale back to 3 or 4 days a week of some of the workouts.
Especially since I’ve gone non-stop for 6 months by doing Power 90 and then P90X, and before that, I had pretty much NEVER worked out. I don’t want to burn myself out on it or anything, so I’ll probably just try to maintain what I’ve done for a little while and then maybe do another round to see if I can beat that last little bit of fat into submission and get a little more cut. Who knows though.
