Great News!

May 28th, 2009

Just got off the phone with the doctor, and as of today, I can officially go off my blood pressure medicine! Hopefully it will stay low and I won’t have to go back on it (at least not for many years). All of this exercise, weight loss and diet changes are having a huge effect, thankfully.

Just thought I’d share the good news.  I’m pretty excited about it.

Thank you, Power 90!

Josh is a Big Loser – Week 7

Week 7  Stats for Josh is a Big Loser (missed Week 6 post due to Marie’s surgery)

  • Starting Weight: 176.0 lb
  • Today’s Weight: 166.5 lb
  • Weekly Loss: 1.5 lb
  • Total Loss: 9.5 lb
  • Total % Loss: 5.40%

This was an interesting week.  Marie had surgery on Monday, and I spent my week taking care of her and playing Nurse Josh, so I worked out a total of zero days.  I did my best to eat as well as I could, but it was by far the worst week since starting this.  I definitely appreciate how much time Marie has put into taking care of both of us on the nutrition side of things (among many other things that she does as well).  In no way could I possibly do this by myself.  So a big thank you goes out to my beautiful wife for helping me through this.  She is pretty amazing.

However, that being said, I still managed to lose 1.5 lb.  I think that can be attributed to kicking my butt the past 6 weeks so that I have built lean muscle and my metabolism has dramatically increased.  My body was just doing it’s thing, and it worked wonderfully.

Today is day 43 of Power 90, which means I’m nearly half done with the initial program.  Even though I didn’t work out at all last week, I moved up to Level III-IV on the videos, and I have to say…it completely kicked my butt today.  I had no clue how increasingly hard it was going to be jumping up to the next level.  I have no idea how I finished it.  I have to say though, I am really excited to see my Day 60 and Day 90 pictures because there is no way that there won’t be a dramatic difference after seeing what I’m going to be doing for the next month and a half.  If I can stick with this closely, it ought to really whip me into shape.  Now I know why people say they can see the most dramatic results in the last 30 days of the program!  Bring it on!

Power 90 – Day 30

May 8th, 2009

I just realized that I didn’t post anything on day 30 of my Power 90 journey!

Here are my stats day 1 vs. day 30:

  Day 1 Day 30
Weight (lb) 173.5 168.0
Chest (in) 39.5 37.25
Waist @ bellybutton (in) 39.25 36.5
Hips @ pantline (in) 37.75 35.5

So I’ve lost 5.5 lbs (3.17%) during just this part of Power 90, 2.75 inches in the gut and 2.25 inches in the pantline.  My heaviest weight was 184.0 lb (which I was at a few months ago, so I’ve actually lost 16.0 lb total so far.

I can definitely see and feel a difference, that’s for sure!

If I keep up at this rate, maybe I’ll be brave enough to post my day 1 vs. day 90 pictures at the end. :)

Josh is a Big Loser – Week 5

Week 5  Stats for Josh is a Big Loser

  • Starting Weight: 176.0 lb
  • Today’s Weight: 169.0 lb
  • Weekly Loss: 2.5 lb
  • Total Loss: 7.0 lb
  • Total % Loss: 3.98%

Not too shabby.  I was actually down to 167.0 lb a few days ago, but I think the weekend kind of hurt me (again).  It’s amazing how hard it is to actually eat right when you’re so busy.  No one makes it easy at restaurants, that’s for sure.

I have now completed my fourth full week of Power 90…except that I disappointed myself this weekend when I officially missed my first day of workout time.  We were working on a big project at the house all weekend, and I had zero time left over to workout on Saturday or Sunday.  I was pretty aggrevated at myself.

Tomorrow is Day 30, so I have my first real comparison measurements and pictures for Power 90.  I’m excited to compare more numbers than just the pounds to see how I’ve progressed.
