1 Pound Down

March 30th, 2009

This marks the beginning of week 2 for my whole eating-right-and-exercising-so-I-can-lose-weight process.

josh_is_a_big_loser_logoI need to come up with a better name for this.  Maybe a spoof of The Biggest Loser.  Like “Josh is a Big Loser” or something.  Maybe that’s not the best choice (maybe it is).  I’ll think of something.  If you have any ideas in the meantime, comment below.

Anywho…

As of my “official” weigh in this morning (and by official, I mean standing on my bathroom scale at home every Monday morning with slightly less than any clothes on) I lost 1.0 pound this week, for a total of 1.0 pounds (since I’ve only been doing this for a week – duh).

I had some words of wisdom given to me yesterday, and I decided to try them out.  A friend of mine who has successfully lost and pretty much kept off about 50 pounds told me that I need to give myself one day per week to eat whatever I want without thinking about it (within reason – no 36 ounce steaks wrapped in bacon and a side of an entire cheesecake or anything like that).

I think I’ve decided to make that day Sunday, which is a little stupid probably since it’s the day before I weigh myself every week, but I figure if I do it every week I’ll see the same progress either way.  So yesterday I didn’t count calories or pay much attention to what I ate.  I still exercised some restraint, and I felt pretty good.  No overeating or anything.  And I still lost a pound.

And the best thing is that it seems to have renewed my motivation for this coming week.  I’m not tempted to cheat or anything today, and I’m still motivated to eat well and exercise.  If I give myself a day like that every week, this could work out really well long term.

Looking forward to my Power 90 stuff coming in the mail this week.  UPS tracking show that I should get it tomorrow!  That would be great.  I’ll probably wait to officially start it next Monday so it lines up with my schedule, but we’ll see.  I might do a preview week this week or something since I’m going to work out anyway.

Pressing on through week 2.
