ACC Website Release
Well, it’s finally done! I just pulled the trigger on the release of www.ameliachurchofchrist.com. Check it out and let me know what you think.

It’s built with the Content Management System Joomla. We’re using several extensions, some of which I have hacked extensively to make them do what we specifically need. If you want to know more details of the build or what extensions I used, leave me a comment, and I’ll do a post on that.
One thing that you might notice is that our server is running a bit slow (which is quite annoying). It’s become a real problem, and our host doesn’t seem to be interested in fixing it (they were bought by another larger company, and since the migration to new servers, we’ve seen tons of problems with speed and reliability on database-related issues — for the last several months), so we’re switching hosts — hopefully next week. We should see a definite improvement after the switch. Keep your fingers crossed! :-)

Fantastic job on the web site! It looks awesome! This ties in with Mike’s seris on Extreme Makeovers, we were definitely in need of a face lift. Thank you!

I’ve been thinking about switching to DreamHost so much more then I’m getting right now for less. Good job on the site btw.

Dreamhost is one of the hosts I was looking at, but I’m still reading mixed reviews since they had their big power outage and problems this past summer. I think we may end up going with lunarpages for now. Dave uses them for w3cu, and he’s been really happy with them.

Man, that is one good-looking guy on the front page of that website! :)
The site is really amazing. I have received nothing but stellar comments form our people thus far. “Thank you” doesn’t even come close to what you deserve for all your work, creativity, and patience.

Just glad I could help. I hope people use it as much as they act like they will.
It’s pretty cool to see the hits we’re already getting from around the world. I’ll have to post our geo map overlay here sometime. Yesterday alone I think we had visitors from Australia, Canada, the UK, Singapore, Mexico, and all over the US. Gotta love technology.

I would love to see the map of the hits were getting.
